Now and Then

Enjoyment:

5/5 – Amazing

Summary

This game plays like a sexy version of the walking dead. Strong characters, interesting plot, and deep relationships. Although the art was pretty basic, I really enjoyed playing this game and seeing how the MC and characters survived in the post-infected world.

Ratings

  • Game play: 3/5
    • The game follows a fairly linear story line, with a few choices in pursuing or not pursuing love interests. It flows like a typical visual novel. There isn’t any resource or character management, and the entire game centers around your direct interactions as the story unfolds.
  • Characters: 5/5
    • Each character is well though out and has their own personality. The backstories and character interactions feel natural. The love interests grow over time and help build compelling relationships.
  • Story: 5/5
    • This is the strongest part of the game. The story flips back and forth between the past and current timeline, and it helps provide more depth to the characters and their choices in the post-infected world. The characters make many hard choices and you can sympathize with the weight of them.
  • Style: 3/5
    • The art style is common to many visual novels, the main character is a common model. While the rest of the characters look a bit plastic, its easy to see past that and doesn’t detract at all from the game.
  • Scenes: 4/5
    • Almost all of the scenes follow the same basic pattern, with only a minor amount of variety. The build up and emotion behind the scenes are the best part. There are many scenes and they are feel natural with the story line.

Platform

  • Platform: Linux
  • Version Played: 0.99.0
  • Replay the game in the future: Maybe – while there aren’t any major plot points that I missed, it may be interesting to replay the game and focus on different love interests.
